No-Man live album

There is now a microsite for the forthcoming No-Man live release "Love and Endings". This will include a DVD of the performance. Release date for this is 12th March, on CD/DVD and 2 LP vinyl. Love and Endings is a document of no-man's performance at the Leamington Spa Assembly on October 14th, 2011.

Steven Wilson band tour - second leg

The second leg of SW's spectacular Grace for Drowning tour will start at the beginning of April and run through to mid May. Many shows have not been confirmed yet, but these are: 30th April - Amager Bio, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2nd May - 013, Tilburg, Netherlands, 4th May - Trianon, Paris, France, 6th May - Garage, Saarbrucken, Germany, 7th May - Theaterhaus, Stuttgart, Germany, 9th May - Z7, Pratteln, Switzerland, 10th May - Alcatraz, Milan, Italy, 11th May - Orion, Rome, Italy, 13th May - FZW, Dortmund, Germany, 14th May - AB, Brussels, Belgium, 15th May - Shepherds Bush Empire, London, UK (ticket link below). Note that London will be the only UK date, and this time it will be standing not seated. SW is planning to introduce some new music into the show for this run, and one of the dates will also be filmed for a Blu-Ray / DVD release. All the tickets links and the rest of the dates will be announced in the next few days. Note that the ticket links included above are valid, but tickets may not actually be on sale for another day or two, so keep trying.

SW App available

There is now a Steven Wilson app for iPhone, and it's totally free. It includes the first official release of the track "Cut Ribbon". It's just for iPhone at the moment (although can also run on iPad), but there are plans to follow it with an Android version later on. Link here to get it.

The beautiful 4LP vinyl box set edition of the "Anesthetize" live film soundtrack is now available to pre-order from the PT store. This item is a strictly one-off pressing of 3,000 copies on black vinyl, release date is 21st June.

Burning Shed 10th anniversary show

On 14th October, Burning Shed will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special event at the Leamington Spa Assembly. The evening will include performances by artists who have been associated with the label / online shop over the last decade. Already confirmed are Theo Travis and No-Man, and other acts will be announced soon. No-Man will play a 45 minute set, including some pieces never performed live before. This will be the band's first performance since its successful 2008 Mixtaped shows. The venue is the Assembly, situated in the heart of Leamington Spa (one and a half hours from London and less than half an hour from the Birmingham and East Midlands airports). Tickets can only be obtained from the Assembly box office - here. Please note that despite the venue website's current listing this is *not* a No-Man concert, the band's short performance will be part of the evening's events dedicated to celebrating Burning Shed's 10th anniversary.

Anesthetize 4LP set

Porcupine Tree concluded 18 months of touring Fear Of A Blank Planet with a short European tour in October 2008. Both shows at the 013 in Tilburg were filmed and highlights were released as the acclaimed "Anesthetize" film on DVD and Blu-Ray in May 2010. ToneFloat are now making available the complete audio soundtrack on vinyl as a lavish 20-track four disc set in separate picture sleeves, and housed in a deluxe hardback box, complete with 12x12inch booklet. The soundtrack was previously only available on CD in the long sold out deluxe book edition of Anesthetize, and like that edition the vinyl set includes a bonus track "Prodigal" that is not featured in the film, making a total of 2 hours 15 minutes of music across 8 sides of vinyl. This release is strictly limited to 3000 copies only, and will be deleted once sold out. The release date is set for 21st June, and Anesthetize can be pre-ordered now from ToneFloat. The PT Store will also have copies for sale nearer to the release date.

TF100 featuring SW

Headphone Dust have a few copies of the beautiful book / double vinyl "TF100" release in stock. TF100 is the one hundredth release on ToneFloat records, and comes in the form of a very limited (700 copies) deluxe 108 page hardback book with 2 x 10 inch vinyls, featuring many of the artists that have helped to define the ToneFloat sound collaborating in different combinations. Steven Wilson contributes a long instrumental track with Sand Snowman, and sings and plays guitar and keyboards on several other pieces in collaboration with Theo Travis, Dirk Serries, Peter Van Vliet (Use of Ashes) and Sand. The album was also mixed and compiled by SW. NOW SOLD OUT AT HEADPHONE DUST - BUT STILL A FEW COPIES LEFT AT TONE FLOAT.

PT at the polls

Thanks to everyone who voted for PT in the readers poll in Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine. PT was picked as Best Band, Anethestize was No.3 Best DVD, and the band’s night at the Albert Hall was picked as the 4th best Event of the Year. Richard Barbieri topped the Best Keyboard Player poll, whilst SW and Colin Edwin both came in at number 3 in Best Guitarist and Best Bassist categories respectively. Gavin grabbed the No.2 spot as Best Drummer, the same as SW in Best Male Vocalist category. Proving you can’t keep a good icon down, SW was voted Prog Icon 2010 having won the title previously in 2009!

As if all that wasn’t quite enough, the SW-produced King Crimson 40th Anniversary editions were voted as Best Reissue, and the SW mixed We’re Here Because We’re Here by Anathema took the No.2 slot for Best Album. Elsewhere the magazine features an extensive 8-page spread about the band and interviews with everyone.

New Ex-Wise Heads album

"Schemata" is the 6th full length album by the band and sees the duo of Colin Edwin and (former Henry Cow member) Geoff Leigh explore some darker and more primal elements than earlier recordings. Accessible and absorbing, just over an hour of new music showcases the duo's ever developing fascination with soundscapes, minimalism, atmospherics, unusual instrumentation and exotic rhythmic patterns around the core elements of Colin Edwin's forceful bass playing and Geoff Leigh's fearless and spontaneous flute and saxophone solos. Rick Edwards (who has also guested previously with No-Man and many years ago on Porcupine Tree's Moonloop) adds percussion and Rajan Spolia contributes his inimitable raga like acoustic guitar work to the nine minute closing track "Breathing to Forget" To celebrate the release of the album, until March 1st, all the previous Ex-Wise Heads CD's, Geoff Leigh's "Mirage" project albums and Colin Edwin's solo CD "Third Vessel" will be specially priced at £7 each, with also reduced prices on downloads. Delerium box set

28th February will see the release of a box set on Esoteric / Cherry Red documenting Delerium Records, the label set up by Richard Allen at the start of the 90's to cater for Richard's love of psychedelic music. Among the very first signings to the label were Porcupine Tree, who released 4 studio albums on the label between 1992-96. "The Last Daze of the Underground" is a 3 CD box set that includes the rare short version of "Radioactive Toy" (different intro and guitar solo), and the title track of Signify, as well as tracks from many of the other bands that released music on Delerium Records, and a detailed booklet containing the history of the label. Richard Allen: “I’d ideally like everyone to make an effort and support a local independent music retailer, since if it wasn’t for those kinds of outlets Delerium Records would never have existed. Failing that , and despite the fact they are offshore avoiding tax (to the detriment of the surviving UK independent retailers) buy it from HMV.com and help support the last UK music retail chain, without whom the high street will be a very bleak place. As a last resort get it from Amazon…..”

Anesthetize best DVD in Classic Rock

PT's Anesthetize has been awarded DVD of the year by the critics of Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine. Also in the top 5 were Lasse Hoile's film about SW "Insurgentes" at no 3, and No-Man Mixtaped at no 5. The award for best album went to the SW mixed Anathema comeback album "We're Here Because We're Here". And just a reminder that for December only the Anesthetize DVD is available on sale for only £6 at the PT Store as part of the Christmas sale.
